One of the fundamentals of Strategic Foresight is to practice from the outside-in, rather than the inside-out. Our default is to be concerned exclusively with subject matters that directly pertain to our organization, industry, role, or focal issue.

However, our most impactful disruptions and opportunities lie outside our traditional silo. This is the true power of environmental scanning- not only does the practice guarantee that we find evidence of potential disruptions and opportunities, but it also rewires our brains to think from the outside-in.

Use this worksheet to practice thinking from the outside-in. The worksheet asks to select and draw futures insights from an article from outside your industry or expertise.
